Where in the world have I been?

I can’t believe so much time has passed since I’ve blogged!  Well, to catch you all up on where I have been…our family made a move this summer!  We finally moved into a bigger house!  We only moved a few miles away from the old house, but it has been time consuming.  Plus, moving in the Southern California heat of the summer, with the wild fires burning right over the top of us was not the easiest thing to do.   Slowly but surely life is going back to normal and I am able to catch up on life.

One of the best things about moving is that my girlie has her own room now.  I was so excited for her to have her own space.   Most of you know, if you have followed my blog for a while that I love little projects around the house.  Although I openly admit I think I am lacking the house decorating gene…I am happy with how her room is coming along.  I am majorly addicted to this blog http://nestingplacenc.blogspot.com/  I love the way the Nester will not go into debt to decorate her house.  So I put myself to the challenge to get almost everything for my daughter’s room used (except for her bed from grandma’s house and the bedding is new).  Here you go..her room with the list of things purchased and the cost!

Here is the breakdown of cost so far for the “craigslist, thiftstore, yard sale” room.

wall decals – $15.00 target
oval mirror – $10.00 yard sale
coat rack – $6 yard sale
pink baskets – $4.00 yard sale
white cabinet on wall – $7.00 thrift store
all bedding about $50.00 home goods (bought new)
bed – free…the frame is in the backyard waiting for me to paint it. It was Doug’s in highschool
tall jewelry box – free from old neighbor
little glass lamp – $5 thrift store
paint – $30.00 for room, dresserand frames
curtains and white shelves the pictures are on – free from kids old room
things to buy still – little glass knobs like these http://www.elizabethsembellishments.com/Crystal-Shaped-Glass-Knobs.html  for the dresser, jewlrey box and closet doors.  I still need to get plenty of little things for the empty shelf by her bed.  Soon I will paint the bed frame that will  be in the room…okay I will do it as soon as it is not 100+ outside.

So there you go!  That’s what I have been up to for the past few months :)
