I am a dreamer.  As long as I can remember I have been a dreamer.  Growing up as an only child I think you become one.  I loved playing make believe when I was younger and as I grew I found myself a teenage girl in jeans and a white T-shirt, long hair pulled back in a pony tail, riding horses, off on adventures.  Although I did grow out of my dolls and horses stage, the dreamer still lives in me.  Now it just comes out through my camera.

I love the beauty that God has created around me.  I have now come to love the ability that God has given me to see art.  I love the magic that happens when sunlight hits a field of open grass.  I love the carefree nature of children, the romance of love and the smile on a person's face when they realize they do look good in pictures.  All of this combined makes me who I am as a photographer.  I am bubbly, a bit silly, almost never shy, talkative and yes...still a dreamer.  Come see what it is that I dream about and welcome to my new blog!

Bryan and Janelle

Bryan and Janelle had such a gorgeous wedding!  How lucky am I to have such a beautiful couple to photograph?  This was another really special wedding for me to photograph.  Janelle is my step-sister and Bryan is my new step-brother in law.  My kids adore them and were thrilled when I came home and said “it’s official Bryan is your uncle!”  Bryan and Janelle are so much fun to be around and they brought all of that fun to their wedding day.  Thank you Frisina and Moisant familes for making such a great day!

Bryan and Janelle chose to see each other and take pictures before the ceremony.  I loved their faces when they saw each other for the first time!

The couple had their romantic first dance…then busted out a choreographed dance.  It was great!

I had sweet Krista Lucas come photograph this wedding with me.  http://www.kristalucasphotography.com/  We snuck outside during the rececption to go photograph the glow coming from the room.  The entire venue was beautiful.

Tom and Jackie

Meet Tom and Jackie.  Tom is Doug’s cousin (they grew up more like brothers) and Jackie is the newest member of our family.  This wedding was very different for me…it was the first wedding I did where my husband was part of the wedding party.  Our kids were even in the wedding too!  We spent two days in Fullerton having fun watching the kids enjoy a hotel room and enjoying the wedding.  What I did not know about Jackie prior to this day was how talented she is.  I knew she was one of those artsy people that enjoyed baking and crafts.  For the wedding she made so many things…cookies (favors), jewelry, flowers, decorations, and the list goes on!   I was amazed at how detailed she was in planning the wedding day.  Their ceremony was beautiful.  Jackie was given away by her twin 2 year old kids and they toddled in between the couple all through the ceremony.  Tom is a wonderful Dad to the twins and now we can officially have them as part of our family.  Our kids were thrilled when they realized that since Tom and Jackie are now married the twins are their cousins.  I can’t wait to watch our families grow together!

I love these pictures of Tom and Jackie laughing together!  Tom you did a good job making her laugh!

The summer of weddings

What a fun and busy summer we have had so far!  This Friday will be the last wedding after shooting 3 weddings, 3 Fridays in a row.  We have been blessed!  In the craziness of life I realized that I have not shared with you the wedding that kicked off the summer.  Beth and Brian could be some of the nicest people we have met.  I wish they lived closer to us…they live in Tahoe.  It was nice spending the day with them and their family.  Their wedding was filled with touching words by many people that love them.  It was easy to see why they are so loved :)

Laguna Wedding

Rob and Sherrie’s wedding was simply beautiful!  The wedding and reception took place at the Pacific Edge Hotel right on the beach.  As a little girl Sherrie dreamed of having her wedding on the large patio of the beach house…and her dreams came true!    She planned a great wedding that has given her a passion for planning weddings.  I can’t wait to see what she does in the future!

Dinner time fun!

I want to start something new on my blog.  I love photography…but I love doing cute and fun things with my kids even more!  I thought it would be fun to share some things we like to do at our house.  I love cooking with my kids!  This morning my husband said “we haven’t made chicken pot pies in a while.”  While I was out shopping I found a kid’s cookbook with piggy pot pies.  I knew we needed to give it a try for dinner.  My kids loved it!  My husband and I even ate piggy pot pies LOL.

How to make piggy pot pies -

1 can cream of chicken soup, 1/4 cup sour cream, 1 package Pillsbury biscuits, about 2 cups cooked cubed chicken, 1 1/2 cup cubed potato, 1 1/2 cup sliced carrots, 1 cup celery

I cooked the potato, carrot and celery in a pan with olive oil (with a little salt and pepper)

Once they veggies were cooked about half way I mixed in the soup and sour cream, mixed well, then added the chicken.

For the piggies I used 1 Pillsbury biscuit for the head, broke up another biscuit to make the piggy nose, cut small triangles for the piggy ears and rolled 1 long piece to make the piggy tail.  To make piggy eyes I used peas.  I poked little holes for the piggy’s nose.

I placed the piggies on top of my pot pie dishes and finished baking until the piggies were gold brown.  Lots of fun!

Summer

I am trying to mentally gear myself up for summer.  Having had both kids in school, I have become accustomed to a bit of my own time.  I can clean the house, do work and take a shower in peace (that one is hard for a mom).  In about 1 month that will change.  We will start summer break.  I admit I am a bit scared of how to be a good mom, keep the kids busy, teach them, take them to VBS (we have 3 to go to this year), enrol them in the summer reading program, go to swimming lessons, spend time at the park, go to raging waters, keep fighting at a minimum, keep the house semi-clean, clean the toilets, make healthy meals, be a good friend, read my Bible daily and get rid of 5 kittens (if you want one email me).  I am sad for the last summer before my daughter starts kindergarten.  I want to soak in every bit of time and every memory.  She is so excited to start school.  I just can’t believe that time is almost here!

Simple white fences…

Simple white fences make me happy!  Add in there a cute little yard with a small orange tree and it is my paradise for kid’s portraits!

Tom and Jackie – engagement session

Tom is Doug’s cousin and for years I have pestered him at every family gathering!  “Can you bring home a girl for me to chat with?”  Well…it happened!  He brought home Jackie.  She is beautiful, a mom to twins (darling twins I may add), kind, warm…the list goes on.  Things feel complete with her around.  The kids all play together.  We get to see Tom become a Dad :) Did I mention I finally get someone to chat with?!  Thanks Tom!  The whole family is beyond happy!

Life!

Believe it or not I have plenty to blog…beautiful sessions…cute moments with my own kiddos…but life gets in the way sometimes.  I struggle to pull it all together.  Then I read something like this!  Here is a bit of my darling friend Sarah’s blog post.  I am so thankful for her post.  The words ring all too true of my life sometimes…

“In other news, I realize that I have absurd Expectations of myself as a Mom, a Wife, a Christian. It’s like I’ve taken all of the really wonderful things I’ve observed in others (usually those observations being from afar, rather than day-to-day living with those people) and decided THAT’s the sum of what I’m “supposed” to be. And I beat myself up when I’m not measuring up.

Ridiculous.

House-keeping and meals and devotions and attitude and dress and hair and make-up and journaling and schooling and reading and writing and serving and eating and working out and reaching out and joyful and nurturing and patient and gracious and happy and willing and able and up early and slowing down and appreciating beauty and educating and being educated and saving the planet and vacuuming my couch and saving the whales and dusting the mini blinds and singing songs and laundry and laundry and laundry and avoiding BPAs and saving money and potty training and nutrition and teaching ancient history and honing a craft and voting and adopting an orphan and teaching math and reading and writing and shapes and colors and numbers and joyful attitudes and memorizing scripture and running a marathon and cuddling and making my bed and teaching my kids to make their beds and brush their teeth and cleaning the oven and avoiding trans-fats and hydrogenated oils and refined sugars and going on a missions trip and needing a Savior.

Needing a Savior.

Needing a Savior.

Because I just don’t measure up. At all. Pretty much I suck, and it’s okay. It’s not about becoming perfect. It’s about realizing more and more how desperately I need a Savior.

Whew.”

Thank you Sarah for your words!

Oh… of course I do have a bit silliness to show you.  What do you do with a kid like this?!
